Moscow. March 4th. INTERFAX.RU - The social network Twitter is blocked on the territory of the Russian Federation, follows from the data of Roskomnadzor.

According to the RKN universal service for checking the blocking of pages and sites, access to the resource is limited in the Russian Federation based on the request of the Prosecutor General's Office dated February 24.

Earlier, the RKN reported on the complete blocking of the social network Facebook in the Russian Federation.

On March 1, the RKN again began slowing down Twitter traffic in the Russian Federation on stationary computers "due to the dissemination by the site of unreliable socially significant information on the subject of a special military operation in Ukraine."

The department recalled that since March 10, 2021, Roskomnadzor slowed down Twitter on mobile and stationary devices in the Russian Federation for not deleting information whose distribution is prohibited in the Russian Federation.

On May 17, 2021, after the Twitter moderation services removed over 91% of prohibited information, access restrictions on fixed networks were lifted, while slowing down Twitter traffic on mobile devices continued.

According to the RKN, more than 800 materials remain undeleted, according to which Roskomnadzor sent about 1.7 thousand notifications to Twitter about the need to remove illegal information.

The RKN noted that the condition for lifting the access restriction "is the complete removal of Twitter of prohibited materials identified by Roskomnadzor, as well as the cessation of participation in information confrontation, the spread of fakes and calls for extremism."

In addition, the RKN added, Twitter did not comply with a number of requirements of the Landing Law.
