Bryan Adams has revealed that he has tested positive in a breakthrough case of COVID-19 for a second time in one month.

The musician, whose representative had said in October that he had taken the COVID-19 vaccine, took to Instagram on Thursday to reveal that he had tested positive for the virus once again as he touched down in Milan, Italy.

Adams, 62, also shared that he was heading to hospital, as he shared photos of himself wearing a mask in the airport and an ambulance he was waiting to board.

Captioning the pair of images, the Canadian-born musician wrote: "Here I am, just arrived in Milano, and I've tested positive for the second time in a month for Covid. So it's off to the hospital for me. Thanks for all your support."

Adams' post came weeks after he announced that he was pulling out of a scheduled appearance of Tina Turner's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which took place on October 30, after testing positive for the novel coronavirus.

The "Please Forgive Me" singer had been set to perform in a medley of songs alongside the likes of Christina Aguilera, Mickey Guyton and H.E.R.

His duet with Turner—"It's Only Love," from his 1984 album, Reckless—was on the roster. Keith Urban was drafted in at the 11th hour to replace him onstage.

A spokesperson for Adams told Variety that he was fully vaccinated and had not shown any symptoms at the time of his first positive test.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cases of reinfection with COVID-19 "have been reported, but remain rare."

"In general, reinfection means a person was infected (got sick) once, recovered, and then later became infected again," the CDC has stated. "Based on what we know from similar viruses, some reinfections are expected."

Stating that the CDC is "still learning more about COVID-19," the public health agency said that it "is actively working to learn more about reinfection to inform public health action."

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), has warned that the U.S. will likely see more breakthrough infections due to waning immunity provided by the vaccine, as well as the highly contagious Delta variant.

In a Halloween post shared on Instagram, Adams said: "Please don't worry, yes I had the Covid and thankfully had no symptoms. Bunny my daughter had it too, with bit of a sore throat for night. But we're good."
