By now, most of us have likely heard about an odd event which gained a moderate amount of attention in recent news reports. Along with the earthshaking developments in the judicial system, the political arena, and the various topics of disclosure, there was a rather strange occurrence which, as of this moment, still presents itself as a wild card. This story involved a hacker group which claimed to have obtained vital information about the September 11th attacks and threatened to release this information to the public if the group was not paid a certain sum of money.
The incident seemed out of place and was naturally received with both surprise and skepticism by audience members. Yet regardless of how much truth or fiction may be represented in this story, there are a number of enlightening observations we can make about this incident.
The incident seemed out of place and was naturally received with both surprise and skepticism by audience members. Yet regardless of how much truth or fiction may be represented in this story, there are a number of enlightening observations we can make about this incident.
We'll get to those details momentarily, but before that, let's examine the first of the data drops which this hacker group claims to have released after failing to receive their ransom. Below is an excerpt from the note written to the public by this alleged hacker group. This particular communication is claimed to include the files of the first data dump.
Hello, world. As you're well-aware, we designed a compensation plan that would allow for the public crowd-funding of our organisation in order to permit the public disclosure of our "9/11 Papers" in the interest of the public. Part of this plan was to create a tiered escalation plan that would result in multiple layers and milestones (which we're calling checkpoints) to ensure the powers at be are being properly bent over a barrel. We've said it before, and we'll say it again: we're financially motivated, and you (the public) has spoken to us in our language (internet money, specifically Bitcoin).
Through voicing your satisfaction by sending us 3.27 BTC for a total of over 12.000 USD of BTC (at the time of writing), you've successfully unlocked Layer 1 as well as Checkpoint 03, Checkpoint 04, Checkpoint 05, Checkpoint 06, and Checkpoint 07. As with our previous paid releases, we've demonstrated to you that we're honest about our intentions and we're transparent. As a result of this most magnificent achievement, we're continuing to follow the wishes of the public by releasing the Layers and Checkpoints we promised you we would. Remember, continuing to fund our wallet will continue to keep us motivated to help break the truth to the world by open-sourcing what we're calling the "9/11 Papers". As such, let the leaking continue:

I have not personally downloaded any of the material from the so called "9/11 Papers," considering the fact that we do not yet know whether or not this source is trustworthy. It may be that this publication is some type of scam designed to entrap disclosure enthusiasts (though not to sound paranoid). In any case, it might be a wise course to hold off until we know just what is behind these disclosures before totally committing to accepting the story of these information dumps as legitimate.
There is also the possibility that the threats and the demand for money are simply tactics to help the incident gain mainstream media attention. It seems quite probable that negatively oriented interests who intended to promote a partial disclosure of 9/11 truth would attempt to paint truth-seekers in an unflattering light while they release partial information about the attacks to the public. In this way, they could kill two birds with a single stone—delivering partial truth while discouraging newer researchers from listening to the more experienced truth-seekers.

It's difficult to know what to make of this situation, but let's research the recent story of this disclosure a bit further and see what comes of it. This is RT with a report on the first data release.

The Dark Overlord hacker group has released decryption keys for 650 documents it says are related to 9/11. Unless a ransom is paid, it threatened with more leaks that will have devastating consequences for the US ‘deep state.’
The document dump is just a fraction of the 18,000 secret documents related to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks believed to have been stolen from insurers, law firms, and government agencies.
Hacker group threatens to leak 9/11 ‘truth’ unless paid in bitcoin
The Dark Overlord initially threatened to release the 10GB of data unless the hacked firms paid an unspecified bitcoin ransom. However, on Wednesday, the group announced a "tiered compensation plan" in which the public could make bitcoin payments to unlock the troves of documents.
A day later, the Dark Overlord said that it had received more than $12,000 in bitcoin – enough to unlock "layer 1" and several "checkpoints," comprised of 650 documents in total.
There are four more layers that remain encrypted and, according to the group, "each layer contains more secrets, more damaging materials… and generally just more truth."
The hackers are asking for $2 million in bitcoin for the public release of its "megaleak," which it has dubbed "the 9/11 Papers."
The group has also offered to sell the documents to terrorist groups, foreign governments, and media outlets. When RT approached the hackers for comment, they proposed providing the channel exclusive access to the potentially explosive papers – for a price, of course.
“They were willing to sell those documents to me. So it’s all about money for them,” RT America correspondent Michelle Greenstein said.
By design, the "layer 1" documents – if authentic – do not appear to contain any explosive revelations. The publications focus mostly on testimonies from airport security and details concerning insurance pay-outs to parties affected by the 9/11 attacks. However, the data dump suggests that the group is not bluffing.
"Let this serve as more definitive proof that what we're saying is true, and that we're doing exactly as we promised you. Continue to keep the bitcoins flowing, and we'll continue to keep the truth flowing," they wrote in a message that included the decryption keys.

The documents – which were immediately scrubbed from Reddit, Pastebin and Twitter – are available for download on Steemit at the time of writing.
Shortly after releasing the decryption keys, the group posted an ultimatum addressed to "the nation-state of the United States of America and the greater deep-state."
"To all the other parties involved (airlines, litigation firms, investigation firms, FBI, TSA, FAA, banks, security companies and more), we're going to burn you down unless you begin to 'play ball,'" the message reads.
Apparently angered by the fact that the ransom has not yet been met, the message warned: "We're peeling these layers back like an onion. No one can save you except for us. Pay the f*** up."
Although the group insists that it is financially motivated and not interested in "hacktivism," they nonetheless expressed hope that continued crowd-funding would secure the full release of the 18,000 documents.

There are a number of possibilities we might consider from this disclosure. Ideally speaking, it would be nice to find this release to be authentic, forthright, and reliable toward to efforts of full openness and transparency. However, to make such an idealistic observation, we would have to ignore a good number of concerning attributes.
Let's think about this scenario for a moment. What kind of hacker group associates itself with the truth movement and yet openly advertises their greed and carelessness to the world as they make their demands? What type of benevolently oriented group chooses to place money at the forefront of their aspirations and then to broadcast the fact to the world?
Let's think about this scenario for a moment. What kind of hacker group associates itself with the truth movement and yet openly advertises their greed and carelessness to the world as they make their demands? What type of benevolently oriented group chooses to place money at the forefront of their aspirations and then to broadcast the fact to the world?
The demands of this supposed hacker group appear to come straight out of a cheesy Hollywood spy movie from the 1980s. Though the hackers claim to have money as their only motive, it seems more likely that whoever these people are making these demands, they intend to paint the truth movement in a negative light and to make it appear as though truth-seekers are just as materialistic, shallow, and greedy as the Cabal that has violated the entire planet for nearly a century.
When we combine these observations with the supposed name of the alleged hacker group, this appears to make sense. How many publicly known groups deliberately associate themselves with Satanism through their group name? (I'm not sure what else to associate with the name Dark Overlord, though I could simply be exaggerating.) This does not seem to be a name that anyone in their right mind would openly advertise to a conscientious population without knowing that it would further cause audiences to view them in a questionable light.
The entire story appears to be some type of smear effort against honest truth-seekers and independent researchers. Take a well-known subject matter with a large advocacy surrounding it (such as the disclosure movement or the Q movement), and make its members out to be self-absorbed, greed-oriented extortionists with a negatively derived group alias. What else would an intelligent group of individuals expect from such a series of choices?
It is also interesting to see this supposed hacker group demanding to be paid specifically in bitcoin. Was this threat and extortive demand for digital currency designed to paint bitcoin investors in a negative light as well? If a manipulative group intended to suggest that those who used bitcoin were all criminal hackers who were only interested in their own bottom line, again, this might be one way to do it.
Here is one more excerpt from the aforementioned Steemit post. This short statement depicts yet another sign that this group does not consist of authentic trustworthy anons.
Continue to share these download links and decryption keys on Reddit, 4chan, Steemit, Voat, your siblings, your friends, your pets, and anyone else!

It may not be very significant, but the suggestion that the public use the 4chan website for these types of communications suggests a lack of knowledge of the situation. The reason 8Chan is currently being used for most anonymous communications is because 4chan showed signs of significant compromise.
Again, it could be nothing, but there are a number of details to this story which suggest that these communications are coming from interests who are only pretending to be authentic patriots and truth enthusiasts. However, if the fact that these hackers demand a ransom has not caused us to question their authenticity, I'm not sure what will.
Despite these concerning issues, it could simply be that those behind this disclosure are, in fact, benevolent and are simply attempting to hide the fact by demanding a minimal amount of funds. I find the possibility slim, but a little optimism may help in our search for answers.
In any case, in order to determine the true weight of these developments, it may be important to look into the information these interests are claiming to have. However, to restate, we cannot be sure whether or not the information dispersed by this group will harm a computer upon its opening. Could these files have been designed to sabotage the efforts of honest truth-seekers in more ways than one?
By including malicious software in some portion of these information dumps, these interests may have intended for independent researchers to open these files and to then be infected with various forms of computer viruses. The group does appear to be adamant in emphasizing the need to share these files with as many people as possible, as the above quote demonstrates. This could be nothing, but may also be part of the intent to spread possibly harmful software to unsuspecting victims.
It will be interesting to see what comes of this developing story in the coming days. I would caution anyone looking further into it to exercise discernment before opening any files from this source called the Dark Overlord in order to ensure that your computers, phones, and electronics remain safe for future truth-seeking endeavors.
